Remote-controlled wearable
She wears it. He decides.
Suits: Tried a little
Usually costs: Middle
Why this one
A small weighted egg worn internally, driven from a phone or from a remote in somebody else's pocket — at the table, in the car, three streets away. The object itself is ordinary. What it does to an evening is not, because the whole of it happens in the waiting.
What to look for
- A retrieval cord you can actually grip, moulded in one piece with the body.
- Bluetooth is for the same room; an app with an internet mode is for genuinely being apart. They are different features and the packaging blurs them.
- Quiet at the top setting, not only at the bottom, if it is ever going to leave the house.
Before you buy
Nothing goes anywhere without a flared base or a cord. And settle the rules — including how she says stop — before the remote leaves her hand.
